An e-commerce site is a shop in its own right. It has the big advantage of being open all hours to the public, and accessible from virtually anywhere in the world (internet connection permitting), at any time 24hr 7. E-commerce is a growing phenomenon: offering many saving opportunities, both for the customer and the seller, not to mention the commodity in placing an order from the comfort of your own home, or from the office during lunch break. Now, you can even shop from your cell phone, any time any where.There are several applications available to create an online store. Features/functionality are often similar, with a correct configuration and development they can be made to do more or less the same things.
One important thing to know is that an e-commerce is essentially a CMS (Content Management System) in other words: a dynamic site, with control panel, where you can independently manage most operations, such as:
- insert products, images, price, description etc…

- receive payment with all the main credit cards & other forms of online payment (e.g.paypal)

An e-commerce site can automatically do the work of many people. Another very important thing to remember is that an e-commerce can also function as an online catalog, without displaying prices. So if you need to have a simple online catalog, fast and powerful, you’re probably better off choosing an e-commerce, as it can instantly be transformed into a true e-commerce site if required, simply by reactivating the functions from the comfortable Control Panel.
Of course, as is true for all shops, you generate more business if your site is cured and kept up to date, publicised for enhanced visibility.
